Use Psychedelics to Help Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, or PTSD? Johns Hopkins Wants to Hear From You.

There has been an explosion of interest in psychedelics and psychedelics medicine in recent years as we’ve seen scientific and political developments across our nation. One of the foundational pillars of this revolution is Johns Hopkins University, the prestigious educational institution that has established a Center for Psychedelic and Consciousness Research to focus on how “psychedelics affect behavior, mood, cognition, brain function, and biological markers of health.” From treating opioid addiction to PTSD to Alzheimer’s disease, Johns Hopkins will be on the cutting edge. And if you have utilized psychedelics to alleviate your anxiety, depression, or post-traumatic stress, Johns Hopkins researchers want to hear from you. From the survey application:

Why should I participate?

To further protect the confidentiality of participants, the results of most questions will be presented in aggregate. We may quote from your textual responses. What kind of information will I be providing?
“At the beginning of the survey, you will be asked questions about your background and health history. Finally, we will be collecting detailed information about your psychedelic experience, and why it may have led to a change in how you feel.”

With Oregon leading the way following passage of the Measure 109 Psilocybin Therapy initiative, advocates in several other states are already taking steps to reform psychedelic laws, looking to legalize psychedelic treatments for a host of mental conditions. Thanks to activists, voters, and scientific researchers, we are going to see psychedelic medicine follow in the footsteps of medicinal cannabis, providing relief for so many people who have been denied access for far too long. It’s certainly an exciting time for drug policy reformers and everyone that has suffered from mental ailments that haven’t been helped by accepted pharmaceutical drugs.
